If you have a shutdown script stored on a network drive, and have configured the 802.1x protocol for user authentication only, your computer will hang for 10 minutes during shutdown.

When the user logs off, the 802.1x protocol stops. This makes the network based shutdown script inaccessible, and the computer hangs for the default 10 minute shutdown script time-out.

See the Understanding 802.1x authentication topic in Help and Support.
