In an interesting move given its legal problems with the DOJ, Microsoft has reorganized itself to combine its previously separate Internet Client Group and Personal and Business Systems Group, which makes Windows 9x and NT. Microsoft says the reorg reflects the company's shift in emphasis to enterprise computing, and insists that the timing has nothing to do with its current legal situation.
"We want achieve an organizational focus around Bill's two business initiatives: the digital nervous system and the Web lifestyle," said a Microsoft representative.
Microsoft's Internet group was created less than two years ago. Brad Silverberg, who had headed the group, is on an indefinite sabbatical
