Microsoft released Visual Studio Service Pack 1 this week to fix bugs with various components of the software development package. Major issues fixed with this service pack include data binding problems in Visual Basic and compatibility issues in Visual C++'s Active Template Library (ATL). Unlike service packs for other products, this is meant to fix bugs only, not add new features.

"We decided that we wanted to deal with existing issues, rather than introduce things that might provoke new errors," said Visual Studio product manager Mike Risse, in Redmond, Wash.
