Apple can't buy good news these days. Early this week, Heidi Roizen, charged with improving relations between developers and the Cupertino company, resigned. Roizen, who was hired by Gil Amelio a year ago to "save Apple," left because she was powerless to stop infighting in the besieged company. She also wanted to spend more time with her two young children.

Later this week, four more senior executives jumped ship: Satjiv Chahil, senior vice president for worldwide corporate marketing; Christopher Escher, vice president of corporate communications; John Floisand, senior vice president for worldwide sales; and Fred Forsyth, senior vice president in charge of the company's Power Macintosh development efforts
