Where to Get SP2

The Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) home page is at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp2/default.asp. Select the language version you want to download at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp2/sp2lang.asp. At 101MB, the English download file is large and expands to a robust 120MB. You can also order SP2 on CD-ROM from Microsoft. Four Microsoft articles document SP2 updates by category:

  • "List of Bugs Fixed in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (1 of 4)" at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q282/5/22.asp—This article contains a description of updates related to application compatibility, the base OS, and directory services.
  • "List of Bugs Fixed in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (2 of 4)" at http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q282/5/24.asp—This article contains information about updates to Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0; mail, management, and administration utilities; Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC); and Microsoft Message Queue Services (MSMQ).
