Intel Corporation, opening its annual developer forum in Palm Springs, California, demonstrated a Pentium III chip running at over 1000 MHz (1 GHz), and told an excited crowd that they would see it in systems by the end of next year or early 2001 at the latest. The current generation of Pentium III runs at 500 MHz, though the company promises 600 MHz versions this year as well.

Also on the drawing board for Intel in 1999 is a 133 MHz system bus (today's bus runs at 100 MHz) and 4X AGP video (compared to today's 2X AGP).
