Presented by Robert Davis
Running Time: 173 minutes
Are you new to replication or do you consider replication to be a challenging beast? Even highly experienced DBAs try to steer away from replication. However, if you work in an enterprise-level environment, replication is hard to avoid. It fills several needs in the areas of scalability and availability is often the right tool for the job—yet many are still hesitant to implement it. After this class, you’ll be ready and able to implement any form of replication with confidence that you are in control.
What attendees will learn:
- Understand when each form of replication is appropriate to use
- Learn how to implement replication
- Discover how to plan for replication to ensure success
- Learn techniques for troubleshooting just about any replication issue
Who should attend: DBAs of all levels who want to gain a better understanding of replication and make replication easier to work with.
Session 1: Introduction to Replication
This session will introduce you to the different forms of replication and explain when and how to use each one. Each replication topology fits certain scenarios and sometimes the right one is obvious. Sometimes, it’s less than obvious and this is where really understanding replication will help you follow the right path.
Session 2: Implementing Replication
Implementing replication is a lot easier than it seems when you plan for it properly. We look at how to implement different forms of replication and how to deal with common pitfalls. This session also covers alternative forms of initialization, which add complexity but solve some big problems that you might come across when working with replication.
Session 3: Troubleshooting Replication
We will look at the common problems you might encounter when working with replication. This session will arm you will the troubleshooting techniques that will help deal with a wide variety of problems.
