Q. Can I mix nodes that have processors that support Second-Level Address Translation (SLAT) and nodes without SLAT in a single Live Migration cluster?

A. Yes. SLAT uses the processor's capabilities to lower the overhead of the hypervisor. It works by removing the need for the hypervisor to maintain shadow page tables for each virtual machine (VM) mapping virtual memory to physical memory. The use of SLAT on some nodes and not others has no impact on the ability to combine in a single cluster or migrate VMs between the nodes. When you migrate a VM to a node without SLAT support there will obviously be a higher overhead on the hypervisor, but there won't be an impact on its functionality.
