The joint Microsoft/NBC news venture, MSNBC reported yesterday that Internet Explorer 4.0 is coming out...today! (It didn't) Here's the whole story:

"IE 4.0:

Microsoft will release version 4 of its web browser, Internet Explorer \[Tuesday\].

The defining feature of this new version is a desktop that allows the browser to substitute for Windows 95. It's part of the trend toward making your computer's connection to the Internet as seamless as possible."

Meanwhile, C-NET is reporting that Microsoft is double-checking IE 4 for security holes "the week before it is scheduled to go into its first public beta testing.
