According to PC Week, Microsoft released a limited beta of Internet Explorer 4.0 yesterday to a select group of testers. The beta test apparently includes a new kind of setup routine, called "Active Setup," that requires tester to download the hefty 50 MB product over the Internet. If the download fails at any time during setup, the tester will be able to resume where it left off.

PC Week is also reporting that many users had problems with the setup procedure. The first public beta of IE 4 will occur in late March or early April
