Q: Is the Windows Server 2012 data deduplication feature also available in Windows 8 client?

A: No. Data deduplication is available only in Windows Server 2012 as part of the File Services role and isn't available in Windows 8 client. This means if an NTFS volume that has deduplicated data on it is locally mounted on a Windows 8 client, the deduplicated files won't be accessible.
