Fall Release Planned for John Savill's The Complete Guide to Windows Server 2008

Windows IT Pro Contributing Editor John Savill will release his newest book, The Complete Guide to Windows Server 2008, at the end of September. Savill's book covers Server 2008 deployment planning, implementation, management, and highlights some of its new features, including Server Core and Hyper-V.

The book's material is based on the Server 2008 final released code.

Savill, a nine-time Microsoft MVP and current director of technical infrastructure for EMC’s central US Microsoft practice, takes you "under the hood" with real-world examples. The book includes information on OS basics, upgrading, client and server deployment, networking, security, and redundancy.

The Complete Guide to Windows Server 2008 offers a full chapter on troubleshooting Server 2008 and Vista environment glitches, and contains a “how to” index to help readers locate answers to commonly-asked questions.

Savill has extensive Windows Server experience. He provides the content for the Windows FAQ web site on WindowsITPro.com, and writes features articles for Windows IT Pro magazine and Microsoft Technet magazine. Savill has also authored a number of books, including:

 • Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Design & Implementation: Creating, Migrating and Merging Networks (Packt Publishing, 2004)
 • The Windows XP/2000 Answer Book: A Complete Resource from the Desktop to the Enterprise (Addison Wesley Professional, 2002)
 • The Windows NT and Windows 2000 Answer Book: A Complete Resource from the Desktop to the Enterprise (Pearson Education, 1999)
The Complete Guide to Windows Server 2008 will be published by Addison-Wesley Professional as part of its Microsoft Technology Series. The "rough cut" version of the book is available here
