Microsoft Notifies Customers About Vulnerability
Microsoft is working on a patch for servers running the Windows Media Encoder, versions 4.0 and 4.1. Malicious users can cause the encoder to fail, taking the Windows Media Server with it. This failure would cause the termination of real-time media streams meant for users. Microsoft had released a patch but promptly recalled it. At press time, the patch was still unavailable. Microsoft Announces Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, Beta 2
Last week, Microsoft announced a joint development program for Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, Beta 2. Those invited include industry partners as well as beta and other Joint Development Partners (JDPs) customers. Microsoft recently posted a white paper to its Web site that mentions that Datacenter Server will support up to 32 processors, 64GB of memory, and clustering of up to four nodes.
