I've been doing some writing and editing for a large corporation, and one of the writers gave instructions for providing users with elevated permission levels that are required for a specific program. In this case, power user permissions are required to launch the software. The directions include instructions to right-click My Computer and select Manage to get to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that lets you add users to the Power Users group. The writer also explained that if the computer is a domain controller (DC), taking these steps results in adding the user to the Domain Power Users group. I've rewritten the paragraph to make it technically accurate. What did I change?

The Answer

Answer: These steps don't work on a DC. You cannot access the Local Users and Groups MMC on a DC because a DC cannot have local users. To add users to a domain group, choose Programs, Administrative Tools, Active Directory Users and Computers. However, you won't find a Domain Power Users group, because there is no such thing as a Domain Power Users group.
