The new version of the converter will allow you to convert new physical machines to virtuals, and some new image formats as well.
VMware's vCenter Converter changes physical machines and third-party image formats into VMware virtual machines (VMs). The latest version, now available, adds support for Server 2008 and RHEL, SUSE, and Ubuntu Linux as sources. It also adds support for Parallels Desktop VMs and more recent version of Symantec, Acronis, and StorageCraft VMs.
vCenter can also clone from Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.
The new version also improves vCenter's "hot cloning" ability, letting it better track changes to a physical source during the conversion to VM, and increases options for automating the source. vCenter is a free download available from the converter's site and is available as a plug-in for vCenter Server.Related Reading:
