A. If you're having problems with the Active Directory (AD) snap-ins (e.g., Users and Computers, Sites and Services) and have the Dr. Watson log, a missing registry value might be causing the problem.
- Start the registry editor (regedit.exe).
- Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LDAP\Clsid.
- If the key doesn't exist, you need to create it. Paste the following statements into a file (fix.reg):Save the file, then double-click it to create the value and resolve many AD-related MMC problems.\[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LDAP\Clsid\]
- Close regedit.exe.
If this approach doesn't resolve your problems, confirm that your version of activeds.tlb (in the %systemroot%\system32 folder) is at least version 5.0.2143.1 (right-click activeds.tlb and select Properties, then select the Version tab). If your version of activeds.tlb is earlier than 5.0.2143.1, replace it with the latest version from a service pack.
