Resolving a printing problem after installing Win2K SP4 Update Rollup 1

I installed Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4) Update Rollup 1 on my notebook computer, and now Microsoft Office keeps crashing. I can't print or even save a Microsoft Word file. I tried uninstalling the update, but that didn't resolve the problem. Have you seen this behavior, and if so, what do you recommend?

I'm going to assume you have a Dell printer, most likely a W5300n (made for Dell by Lexmark). The Printer CL (PCL) driver for this printer doesn't work well with the Win2K SP4 Update Rollup 1. You can contact Dell about the status of an updated driver or substitute the PostScript driver for the PCL driver. The PostScript driver seems to work with the rollup.

May 2013 - The NameTranslate object is useful when you need to translate Active Directory object names between different formats, but it's awkward to use from PowerShell. Here's a PowerShell script that eliminates the awkwardness.
