Q. How can I prevent the Desktop Cleanup Wizard from running every 60 days and prevent the user from running it?

To prevent the Desktop Cleanup Wizard from running every 60 days, and to prevent the user from running it, you can:

- Use Group Policy.

- Use the registry.

To use Group Policy, navigate to User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Desktop and Enable the Remove the Desktop Cleanup Wizard item.

NOTE: This GPO requires at least Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, or Windows Server 2003.

To use the registry, see tip 5793 ยป How can I configure the Windows XP Desktop Cleanup Wizard using the registry?
