The SSIS Catalog - On Demand

Price: $199.00

Presented by Andy Leonard

Total Running Time: 197 minutes

With SQL Server 2012 Integration Services (SSIS), Microsoft introduced the SSIS Catalog. Built into SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), the SSIS Catalog is an application and a database designed to facilitate SSIS package execution, reporting, and configuration. Coupled with a new default deployment model, the SSIS Catalog is an important step forward in enterprise data integration lifecycle management.

In three sessions, data integration architect and author Andy Leonard introduces the SSIS Catalog, demonstrating support for the enterprise data integration lifecycle starting with development and continuing through execution, instrumentation, parameterization, and monitoring.

By the end of this course, you will learn:

  • How to create an SSIS Catalog and how to deploy SSIS to the SSIS Catalog
  • How to execute SSIS packages stored in the SSIS Catalog
  • Project-level connection managers
  • SSIS Catalog environments and references
  • Enterprise reporting
  • And much more!

Course Agenda:

Session 1: Introduction to the SSIS Catalog

An introduction to SSIS Catalog installation, features, and operation that provides a solid foundation for data integration developers new to the SSIS Catalog and developers transitioning from SSIS 2005, 2008, or 2008 R2 to 2012 or 2014.

Session 2: Catalog Features

An exploration of SSIS Catalog functionality applied to the modern data integration enterprise, featuring discussion and demonstrations of SSIS project and package parameters, SSIS project connection managers, and SSIS Catalog environments and references. Together, these features facilitate enterprise connections management – one of the most important functions of any data integration framework.

Session 3: Advanced Catalog Customization

A deep dive into SSIS execution in the SSIS Catalog commensurate with a deeper look at the SSIS Catalog reporting solution built into SQL Server management Studio. Included is a discussion about security, roles, and the implications of both to the enterprise data integration life cycle.
