When you create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, invariably there will be various forms of private information included in the saved copies of those files. For example, a Word document might contain changes, revisions, and edits, that are saved in the file. When you distribute or publish such files all that hidden data will also be included. That is, unless you clean it up before releasing the document to anybody who isn't meant to see the hidden data.

Microsoft released a tool, "Remove Hidden Data 1.0," Office add-on in January that can clean such data out of Office files, and back on July 14 the company released an updated version 1.1 of the tool. You can download a new copy at the Microsoft Download Center.
