Microsoft will release the first beta of Windows NT 5.0 in September, at the company's Professional Developer's Conference. The final release of Windows NT 5.0 is expected in mid-1998 but many of the technologies from NT 5.0 are trickling out now. The Microsoft Management Console, for example, will provide a one-stop system management interface and it's available now in the IIS 4.0 beta. Microsoft Transaction Server and Certification Server, also available now, will be integral parts of the upcoming operating system. Integrating all of these features into the operating system is supposed to make it easier to manage and use.
Next week at its "Windows Platform Briefing," Microsoft will once again lay out a road map for future operating systems development
