A. ThinApp is VMware's application virtualization solution. It allows applications to run on a computer without the need to install the application on the local OS. Virtualized applications run inside the ThinApp sandbox environment, which presents a virtual file system, registry, and other layers, so the application believes it's interacting with the OS's resources directly.

This virtualization allows for rapid application deployment, because there's no installation. Because the applications run inside the ThinApp sandbox, there are no application-to-application compatibility problems—the virtualized applications can't see one another.
