For me, the beauty of Twitter is that it captures the essence of what people are talking about right now. Twitter is essentially a search engine for conversations people are having in real-time, all over the world, 24/7. That's why Twitter can be valuable for the security professional, especially one tasked with keeping tabs on what is happening on a minute-by-minute basis in the IT security landscape.
That's why I'm kicking off a new #Security Tweet of the Week feature for the Security UPDATE newsletter. Here's how it works: If you have an especially useful security tip, a juicy morsel of security news, or even some witty, punchy observations about IT security, just tweet them to my attention (@jeffjames3) and I'll keep tabs on the best tweets I see all week. I'll pick one tweet weekly for publication here in Security UPDATE, and the author of the best tweet of the month will win a $20 Amazon.com gift card. So get tweeting!
