Session 1: Management and Deployment Considerations

Managing an environment is a major pain point for many organizations. This session will look at migration approaches to Windows Server 2012 R2 from a number of previous operating systems. John Savill will also cover some of the management features such as 1-click patching, Configuration Levels, and PowerShell with a focus on the new Desired Configuration Management feature that enables modeling of how a server should be configured and enforcing that configuration. John will cover key changes to fundamental aspects such as storage and networking and exactly what these mean to your Windows Server 2012 R2 environment.

Session 2: Identity and Service Publishing

Many organizations today are looking at a number of initiatives such as integrating with the public cloud, enabling users to bring in their own devices and work from anywhere. John Savill will look at the enhancements to ADFS to enable integration with other organizations and cloud services in addition to the new Web Application Proxy capability that enables Windows Server 2012 R2 to publish certain services to the Internet. John will fully explain Work Folders and Work Place Join as a method for taking non-corporate assets, including non-Microsoft operating systems, and giving controlled access to systems and user data.

Session 3: Advanced Hyper-V and RDS features

Hyper-V is gaining in market share as organizations realize the huge strides made in Windows Server 2012. Windows Server 2012 R2 builds on many of the changes made in Windows Server 2012 with refinements and advancements in areas such as storage and networking. John Savill will take an in-depth look at these enhancements, including Shared VHDX, network virtualization gateway, storage QoS, Hyper-V Replica, and more. Remote Desktop Services has also been updated with features such as deduplication support, session shadowing and dynamic display handling providing environments with a powerful VDI and session virtualization solution in box.
