Q: How can I quickly find out my machine’s IP address?

A: On your internal network, you probably have an address of 192.168.1/24, which is given by your ISP router. The actual address that web sites and Internet services see is the IP address of your router, which is given by your ISP.

To check what this IP address is, go to the website WhatIsMyIPAddress.com. It shows your IP address and information other sites can see, which typically includes your ISP, region, and city.

That doesn't show the computer's IP address. Running ipconfig/all at a command prompt gives all the local gorp. Lou

@Lou: What he meant to do is to show you how to obtain your public address not your private address which can be seen, like you said, using the command ipconfig /all Brian ipUptime.net
