A. The DHCPEXIM tool (from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit, Supplement 1) lets you move scopes from one DHCP server to another. However, a bug causes the new scope not to grant IP leases. To resolve this problem, perform the following steps:

  1. Start regedit.exe.
  2. Go to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\DhcpServer\Configuration\Subnets\\[IP address subnet\]\IpRanges\\[IP address start\].
  3. Double-click RangeFlags.
  4. Set RangeFlags to 1, 2, or 3 where
    • 1 = DHCP only
    • 2 = BootP only
    • 3 = Both (DHCP and BootP)
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close regedit.
