ANAHEIM, CA -- Windows & .NET Magazine announced the winners of the Best of Show Awards for MEC 2002 in Anaheim, California. Janet Robbins, Windows & .NET Magazine editor in chief, presented awards to Windows technology vendors in five categories. The winner of the collaboration and productivity category was Aimware’s TeamCentral. Microsoft’s Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) won in the management category. Fenestrae’s Fenestrae Enterprise Mobility Server won in the mobility category. NEC Solutions America’s NEC Express5800/320La won in the networking and infrastructure category. The winner in the security category was BindView’s bv-Control for Windows.
The field included more than 174 entries. Michael Otey, senior technical editor of Windows & .NET Magazine, said that each winner offered unique competitive advantages to customers. “Aimware’s TeamCentral product is the winner in the collaboration and productivity category because of its ability to provide an effective and productive team collaboration environment for both local intranet teams and geographically dispersed teams connected across the Web,” said Otey.
Microsoft’s MOM won the management category because of the wealth of intelligence it contains for managing enterprise servers. “It lets administrators proactively monitor and ensure performance in Windows environments, and it’s affordable for IT departments of any size,” said Otey.
Fenestrae’s Fenestrae Enterprise Mobility Server won the mobility category because it lets mobile users communicate with enterprise messaging and database systems from a wide range of mobile devices and networks.
NEC Solutions America’s NEC Express5800/320La won the networking and infrastructure category because of its innovative approach to high availability. “It allows Windows programs to run as high-availability applications without modification,” said Otey. “Systems administrators will find this high-availability solution easier to manage than a cluster.”
BindView’s bv-Control for Windows won in the security category because of its ability to address a wide array of security issues across the enterprise. “Its flexible reporting, built-in best-practices checking, and ActiveAdmin features let the security manger discover and address security vulnerabilities across the enterprise.”
