Q: Will there be a Lync client for other mobile platforms?

A: Microsoft also has a Lync client for the following platforms:

  • Nokia Symbian 3
  • iPhone (iOS 4 and above)
  • iPad (iOS 4 and above)
  • Android (2.3 and above)

Not all platforms have the same capabilities. However, all provide presence, IM, a contact list, the ability to search a corporate directory and the ability to join a Lync Conference. Different implementations then add support for calendar integration, meeting pane integration, and integration with standard phone call functionality.

A detailed list of the exact features for the different clients including the desktop client can be found at the Microsoft webpage “Mobile Client Comparison Tables.”
