Replication/Data Availability Solution - 14 Sep 2004

The top two vote-getters for the Best Replication/Data Availability Solution award are VERITAS Software products. VERITAS Storage Replicator earned almost 20 percent of the vote, edging out sister product VERITAS Volume Replicator, which received about 14 percent of the vote.

Most organizations invest heavily in protecting their headquarters' data, but tight budgets for remote office hardware and qualified backup administrators is the primary reason they don't protect their remote data. Storage Replicator eliminates these backup limitations by efficiently replicating data, either continuously or at scheduled intervals, to a backup server at a central location. After the data arrives at the central location via an IP connection, administrators can perform backups as if the data resided in the same data center. Administrators can also restore data instantaneously over the wire, without having to rely on remote office personnel to manage and restore data from tape.
