SharePoint offers a rich, highly scalable platform for collaboration, surfacing data, business intelligence, and social networking and knowledge sharing. Where it falls short, unfortunately, is in the area of security. In these three sessions, SharePoint experts will offer security tips and best practices to enable you to regain control of your environment.
Who should attend:
- Collaboration Managers
- Security Managers
Session 1: SharePoint Site Security - Regaining control of your sites - Ron Charity - 11am ET
SharePoint is lacking in the site-management area with regard to reporting on settings, global application of settings, and enforcement. Additionally, site security is detached from Active Directory in the sense that a central authority doesn’t manage site permissions—instead, SharePoint has permission groups based on roles. This session will provide a prescriptive approach to managing SharePoint site security based on process, policy, and tools. In addition, it will cover organizational elements that must be in place for you to successfully execute best practices of sorts as you assemble a plan specific to your organization.
Session 2: Planning for an Audit-Ready SharePoint Environment - Ron Charity - 1pm ET
Many industries must comply with guidelines for information management--and organizations in these industries are subject to audits. These audits can include assessments of organizational as well as technological aspects, such as configuration documentation and alignment with production, security setting documentation and alignment with production, quality assurance processes and documentation, document management, and penetration tests. This session will provide a prescriptive approach to preparing for an audit. Attendees will learn about processes, policies, documentation, and tools to have in place to help them assemble a successful audit-ready plan.
Session 3: Securing your SharePoint Journey - Eric Riz - 3pm ET
Aligning your SharePoint deployment to a corporate journey is an important part of your enterprise strategy and achieving success. While other parts of your organization are focused on requirements, design and configuration, security is often ignored and left out of the strategic conversation; it is critical that your content is available to your end-users at the right time.
Join SharePoint MVP Eric Riz for this insightful webinar designed to align your security needs to your SharePoint journey. Discussion topics will include web application user policies, site collection administration, and permission granting to maximize discoverable content. We will also discuss security strategies for both on-premises and cloud environments in 2013.
