What you will learn:
PowerShell 101: Running Basic Commands
This session covers the very basics of PowerShell: how to enter and run commands, with and without aliases. This session also shows how to find help for the commands you want to use and how you can experiment safely with the –whatif switch.
PowerShell 101: Beads on a String
One of the key features of PowerShell is its ability to take the output of one command and pass it to another. By stringing together the right commands, you can retrieve information, format it into tables or lists, and export it in a variety of formats. In this session, you’ll see how to do those things, as well as working with a basic set of useful PowerShell commands for managing files and processes.
PowerShell 101: Variables
PowerShell can be used in two ways: as an interactive shell or as an environment to run programs in. Variables are a key part of PowerShell’s toolbox, because you use them to store the results of operations so you can work with them more fully. In this session, you’ll learn how PowerShell handles variables, how to mix and match variables and command output, and how to work with system environment variables and the special variables that PowerShell offers.
