Developing and Deploying a Website with HTML5 - On Demand

Price: $199.00

Presented by Chris Love

Running Time: 180 minutes

The expectation for the way we need to architect web applications has changed in recent years. The advances that browsers have made to support HTML5, CSS3, and lightning-fast JavaScript provide developers with a rich canvas to create some really amazing applications with less work than what's typically needed with classic web development.

This class will familiarize attendees with modern web development techniques to create responsive single page web applications that can target devices and screens of all sizes. Along with learning the fundamentals of responsive web design, you'll learn how to create a single page application and deploy it into your production environment by using some of the latest techniques.

What attendees will learn:

  • Basic and essential responsive design techniques
  • Fundamental single page application techniques
  • Exposure to HTML5 APIs to create more efficient client applications
  • Modern web build and deployment techniques

Who should attend: Web Developers, CIOs, and Architects

Session 1 - Responsive Layouts

This session shows you how to create a responsive web layout that will work on screens from smartphones to large screen televisions and serve as the web application’s layout foundation. I will review how to use some basic CSS and media queries to apply specific layout rules as the application is rendered on different screens. I will also review many of the conceptual issues a developer needs to recognize that differentiate a modern web layout from classic, fixed-width web site.

Session 2 - Create a Rich Single Page Application

In this session, you'll learn how to create the views and add the application logic by using JavaScript, CSS3, and web storage to create a rich single page application. I will review concepts that classic web developers will need to adopt to create a single page application. We will also review several techniques to leverage HTML5 features for better application scalability and maintainability.

Session 3 - Methods of Web Application Deployment

Now that the application is ready, it needs to be built, tested, and deployed. In this session, I'll review how to use GruntJS to build and automatically test the web application. In addition, I will review some new methods for web application deployment including Git, DropBox, and Azure Web Sites for automatic deployment.
