Bring Out Your Smartphone Security Apps

While smartphones like the iPhone and Google Android series have proliferated, there hasn't exactly been a corresponding increase in the number of security apps released for those platforms. While one can argue that smartphones don't currently need security software like the traditional anti-virus, anti-spam, and anti-malware software available for the PC -- although a blog post by security software provider Sophosleaves the door open a bit -- there are a number of smart phone apps available that handle such security chores as keeping track of passwords, monitoring threat conditions, and other security tasks.

Symantec has also taken that idea a step further by announcing Symantec Everywhere, a new security initiative that seeks to bring Symantec's security expertise to mobile phone platforms where applicable.

Time for a quick reader poll: If you're an IT security professional, are you currently using any sort of security app with your smartphone? If you are, please add a comment to this blog post and let me know what you're using.
