Q. Can an Essential Business Server domain be a child domain in an existing Active Directory (AD) forest?

A. No. Like Small Business Server (SBS), the Essential Business Server domain must be the AD forest root domain, and it can't have any child domains. Furthermore, there can be no trusts with other forests.

See the Microsoft "Requirements for License Compliance" Web page for a licensing restrictions list.

Hey John, Should the title of this FAQ read the "Essential Business Server" instead of the "Enterprise Business Server" ? Scharique

Scharique, you are right. That wasn't John's error, it was mine. Thanks for the heads-up. Todd Erickson
