When you attempt to view Control Panel applets, or Help files, or System Restore, or other system folders, they may be partially empty, or fully empty on Windows 2000.

This behavior will occur if one or more Jscript registry entries are incorrect.

To correct the Jscript registry entries, use REG.EXE, from the Windows 2000 Support Tools:

1. Open a CMD.EXE window.

2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each line:

REG ADD HKCR\CLSID\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32 /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "%SystemRoot%\System32\JSCRIPT.DLL"
REG ADD HKCR\CLSID\{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}\InprocServer32 /V ThreadingModel /T REG_SZ /F /D "Both"
NOTE: This behavior will also occur if the Jscript.dll file is missing, or damaged.
