When you right-click
My Computer and press
Properties, the
System Restore tab is missing.
When you Start / Run / Services.msc / OK, the System Restore service is stopped. When you press Start,
you receive a FOLDER IS NOT EMPTY error.
If you experience any of the above, it is likely caused by a corrupt
<DriveLetter:>\System Volume Information folder.
To use this tip,
you must first gain access to the <DriveLetter:>\System Volume Information folder,
granting yourself sufficient permission to Delete the folder.
To resolve this problem, perform the following from your highest hard disk drive letter to your lowest drive letter. If you have
a C:, E:, and F: hard disk, first perform the procedure on F:, then if necessary on E:,
and finally on C:, if required:
1. Right-click the System Volume Information folder and press Rename.
2. Type the following new name and press Enter:
SystemVolumeInfo
3. Shutdown and restart Windows XP.
4. If the issue is resolved, delete the SystemVolumeInfo folder.
