6120 » How do I delete the %SystemDrive%\Hiberfil.sys file? 23-Dec-02

If you hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of memory in the %SystemDrive%\Hiberfil.sys file, so it sized to hold the amount of memory installed on your computer.

If you do not hibernate your computer:

1. Control Panel / Power Options.

2. Select the Hibernate tab.

3. Clear the Enable hibernation or Enable hibernate support box.

4. Press OK. Windows will remove the hibernation option from the Power Schemes tab and delete the %SystemDrive%\Hiberfil.sys file.
