Why do I receive an error that reads "WJVIEW error, Could not execute Main"?

A. Wjview lets you view window-based Java applications. You might receive an error message if Wjview attempts to start an application on your system that no longer exists. To check this under Windows XP, perform the following steps:

  1. Start Msconfig.
  2. Select the Startup tab.
  3. Scan the list for any entries that contain "wjview."
  4. If you find any "wjview" entries, try disabling the Wjview startup component and locate any associated folders identified in Msconfig that you might need to delete to determine whether that solves the problem.

To delete the Wjview entries rather than disabling them (and to check under non-XP OSs), perform the following steps:

  • Open a registy editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
  • Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run registry subkeys.
  • Remove the invalid Wjview entries.

Thks for yr solution but I have a Wind.98 second add, system
    and not Windows XP!

I followed the path to; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run registry subkeys., but my system stops at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion. I do not have the directories that follow what you have. It then goes to RUN, but the directories under RUN are not what ou have. What can I do now ?

Very usefull up to a point. When I found these little mites I don't know which entries are invalid or what is an "entry". I could guess but I know I am in a sensitve area here! Perhaps I should leave it to experts or read a book?

    Many Thanks.

I am running Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
    Used registy editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
Navigated to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run registry subkeys.

You hit the nail right on the head. I found the remains of an advertisment program that I had removed a while back. I removed the leftover invalid wjview entry. Problem solved! Thank-you for the help.
