A. After you install BackOffice Server (BOS) 4.5 on a computer running Windows 2000 Server, users might experience problems when accessing the Inetkit Library using the Intranet Kit. When users connect to the servername/inetkit Web site, they are prompted for their user credentials. After they enter the correct credentials, they gain access to the site, but the system displays the following error message:

An error occurred when accessing the LDAP server '[servername]:1002': For loop not initialized (0x5C, Source = 'Microsoft VBScript runtime error')
The system displays this error message once after users click OK and again when users try to navigate through the Library portion of the Inetkit Web site. This problem can occur if BOS 4.5 isn't installed properly on a Win2K Server. For BOS 4.5 to install properly, you must start the Distributed Transaction Coordinator and Indexing Services before you begin the installation.
To resolve this problem, you can use one of two methods.
Method 1
- Click Start, Run, type cmd.exe, then press Enter.
- At the command prompt, change to drive:\Inetput\Wwwroot\Inetkit\Library folder (where "drive" is the drive on which the Intranet Kit is installed).
- Type the following command:
makecm.vbs /s:server /v:library /a:library /d:path
where "server" is the name of this server, and "path" is the path to the Library (typically, the path is C:\inetput\wwwroot\inetkit\library). For example, type
makecm.vbs /s:server1 /v:library /a:library /d:c:\inetpub\wwwroot\inetkit\library
After you run this command, clients can gain access to the library without the error messages.
Method 2
Remove BOS 4.5, then reinstall it following the instructions included in the "Installing Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5 on Windows 2000 Server" white paper. To remove BOS 4.5, perform the following steps:
- Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall Site Server 3.0 SP3. You might not be able to do this if you didn't create an uninstall folder. However, because you will reinstall this program, it isn't an issue if you can't uninstall it.
- Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall Site Server 3.0.
- Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall SQL Server 7.0.
- Uninstall Exchange Server 5.5 by running the exchsvr\server\setup\i386\setup.exe program from CD-ROM number 4.
- Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall Proxy Server.
- Uninstall SNA Server by running the SNA40\i386\setup.exe program from CD-ROM number 7.
- Use the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall the BackOffice Server 4.5 Setup files.
- Reboot the computer and ensure that the following folders for the associated programs are deleted:
- Microsoft Site Server
- Site Server 3.0 SP2
- MSSQL7
- exchsrvr
- MSP
- SNA
- Program Files\Microsoft BackOffice
- urlcache
- Use regedt32.exe to delete the following keys from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft key:
- Inetkit1
- Inetkit2
- BackOffice Web Administrator
- BackOffice Administrator
- BackOffice\Help
- Restart your computer, then start the Distributed Transaction Coordinator and Indexing Services.
- Install Site Server 3.0, then install Site Server 3.0 SP2.
- Start the Distributed Transaction Coordinator and Indexing Services.
- Use BackOffice 4.5 Setup to install the BOS components.
- Use the Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5 Readiness Kit for Windows 2000 CD-ROM to update the BOS components as described in the "Installing Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5 on Windows 2000 Server" white paper.
