A. In Windows NT 4.0 you set the primary DNS suffix using the
domain field in the DNS tab of TCP/IP properties.
In Windows 2000 this is performed as follows:
- Right click on My Computer and select Properties
- Select the Network tab
- Click the Properties button
- Click the More button
- Enter the Primary DNS suffix and click OK
- Click OK to the prompt informing you will need to reboot the computer
- Close all dialogs
- Reboot the computer
This is very important on domain controllers before configuring DNS as
without this configured the created DNS records will not have the fully
qualified host name.
