Faronics released PowerSave 3.0, software that lets you manage power configuration settings in Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh desktop and laptop computers. Power Save keeps computers running when users need them and powers them down when they're inactive, saving energy and money. It determines when computers are inactive by analyzing CPU, disk, keyboard, mouse, and application activity.

The new and improved features in version 3.0 include:

  • An audit mode that provides a baseline measure of the energy being consumed, making it easy to determine the savings generated
  • 64-bit support
  • The ability to schedule Power Save configuration updates
  • Improved compatibility with the maintenance schedules of Faronics' Deep Freeze software
  • Enhanced reporting capabilities

An increasing number of utility companies in the United States and Canada are offering rebates for installing Power Save. You can find a list of those utility companies in the Power Save Rebates web page.

For background information about Power Save, see "Power Management Software Helps Slash Energy Costs." For more information about Power Save 3.0, contact Faronics at (604) 637-3333 or 800-943-6422 or visit the Faronics web site.
