As part of its beefed up programme for EMEA, Windows IT Pro will stage a free online conference and expo, Virtualisation – Get the Facts, on November 20. The conference has been timed for EMEA audiences, starting at 11 am GMT/10 am Central European Time. Sponsors are AMD, Dell and Microsoft.

Virtualisation – Get the Facts will feature three compelling online seminars from American IT mogul and author Mel Beckman, SQL Server guru Michael Campbell and Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine technical director Michael Otey.

The first session, "Exploring Virtualisation Technologies" will explain the differences between server, desktop and application virtualisation and compare hosted, hypervisor-based and OS-level approaches. It will also look at how Microsoft’s Hyper-V, VMware’s ESX Server and Parallel’s Containers stack up against one another.

The second, "Virtualisation in the Cloud" explains how SMBs can create virtual kingdoms inexpensively with cloud-delivered services and at how to deploy and manage them. The final session, "Virtualising SQL Server and I/O-Intensive Workloads" explores options for virtualising SQL Server along with best practices that help evaluate and optimise benefits for I/O-intensive workloads.

Virtualisation – Get the Facts' virtual expo hall will allow visitors to interact with vendors as they demonstrate their products and services, including VMware and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Virtual Machine solutions, among others. You can find out more and register at the Virtualisation – Get the Facts website.
