EMC is launching a series of packaged hardware, software, and services solutions, the first of which is aimed at email. Designed for Microsoft Exchange Server environments in midsized companies, the EMC Express Solution for E-mail includes EMC hardware and software to simplify and consolidate email on one networked storage system. According to EMC, its email solution helps reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 30 percent. "The EMC Express Solution for E-mail helps midsized organizations maximize the benefits of Microsoft Exchange Server by enabling the highest levels of availability and protection. Midsized organizations with budget limitations can now purchase ready-made solutions from EMC and their partners with built-in backup and recovery as well as a limitless mailbox," said Kim Akers, senior director of Exchange Server marketing at Microsoft.

The solution combines EMC's CLARiiON networked storage with LEGATO EmailXtender Archive Edition replication software, from EMC's LEGATO Software business division, and storage design and deployment services, from EMC's Technology Solutions group and authorized service partners. LEGATO EmailXtender Archive Edition easily moves and compresses aged email to lower-cost hard disks. EMC will showcase the solution at Microsoft Technology Centers (MTCs) in North America and Europe beginning later this year.
