Secure, reliable wireless LAN access has become an indispensable element of many companies' network infrastructures, as ever-increasing numbers of employees and business partners rely on wireless access to corporate networks. For the second year in a row, a Cisco Systems product won the award for Best 802.11 Access Point. This year, the company's Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Point beat its nearest competitor by a healthy margin of 12 percentage points; more than one-third of voters selected the product--one of several Access Points (APs) that Cisco offers--for the top spot. The Cisco Aironet 1200 Series features a single- or dual-radio configuration that provides connection speeds of as much as 54Mbps in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. You can configure the AP to support 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g wireless technologies, or all three technologies in one device. Educational institutions and hospitals are among the organizations that are embracing Cisco's wireless AP products, which let users quickly adapt to fluctuating demand for network access and changing application requirements.
