How can we automatically install Service Pack 4 (SP4) on our Windows 2000 computers?

If your Win2K computers are part of an Active Directory (AD) domain, you can simply use Group Policy. The basic steps are to create a shared folder and copy SP4 to that folder. Then, in the Computer Configuration\Software Installation folder, create a Group Policy Object (GPO) that points to the Windows Installer (.msi) file that comes with each Windows service pack. The .msi file tells Group Policy how to install the service pack. All computers that are linked to that GPO will install SP4 the next time they reboot. For step-by-step details, see "Windows 2000 Installer Package for Service Pack 1," http://www.winnetmag.com, InstantDoc ID 16480.
